Founded in London in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis, Rolex was established at the forefront of watch technology from the very first moment, including the first waterproof wristwatch in 1926. Rolex became more widely known in the 1950s with diving watches such as the Submariner and the Sea-Dweller. Other innovations followed, such as the Explorer II, the GMT-Master and the legendary Daytona.
