In our workshop we had the pleasure of welcoming a watch that stands out not only for its aesthetics but also for its great historical value: the Omega Museum Collection 5702.50.02, also known as the Officer's Watch. This is a limited edition, with a numbered production of just 1,945 pieces, inspired by a 1945 watch, but the limited edition was made much later, around 2003-2010. The particular piece we got to preserve bore the 0789/1945 stamp, making it unique for the collector who owns it.
Omega's Museum Collection series aims to revive iconic designs of the past, adapted to modern watchmaking. The 5702.50.02 is an elegant chronograph that honours the legacy of military watches of the era, with a rich dial full of measurements - tachometric, telemetric and pulse scale - elements that lend authenticity and functionality.
During the service procedure, the Calibre 3200 movement, a 33 jewel manual chronograph, was completely dismantled. Each gear, bridge and wheel was carefully cleaned to remove old lubricants and any micro-particles. This process is essential to maintain the accuracy and longevity of the mechanism. This was followed by careful lubrication at the appropriate points, using the latest generation of special watch oils.
The assembly has once again highlighted the excellent quality of construction Omega. The combination of the movement with the impressive black dial and gold details creates a result that is hard to leave the lover of high watchmaking unmoved. The final adjustment on the chronograph and the accuracy check were carried out to factory standards, so that the watch is delivered to its owner in the best possible condition.
Servicing such a watch is not just a technical task. It is an encounter with the history of watchmaking, a reminder that every movement carries within it decades of know-how and tradition. For us, the care and service of an Omega 5702.50.02 was an honour and a responsibility - because every collectible watch deserves the absolute care and respect it deserves.
