The Longines Spirit Chronograph is a watch with a strong personality, inspired by Longines' historic pilot watches, with a case that combines satin finishes, polished edges, and bold geometric lines. For this very reason, polishing such a watch requires absolute precision and respect for the factory design.
In this case, the case showed surface damage and minor scratches, mainly on the sides and lugs, as a result of normal daily use. Particular attention was paid to the sharp curves and edges of the case in order to maintain the correct proportions and "architecture" of the watch.
The process began with the complete disassembly of the case, removing the crown, pushers, and seals so that we could work safely and accurately. Controlled polishing was then applied, separating the surfaces:
-
The satin finishes were restored to uniformity, exactly as specified by Longines' factory finishing standards.
-
The polished edges and curves were worked separately to achieve a clear mirror finish without any "rounding" or loss of metal.
-
Particular emphasis was placed on the area around the crown and pushers, where finishing variations are critical to the final image.
The result is a case that looks fresh again, with clean lines, the right contrast between satin and polish, and an overall sense of factory perfection. The watch retains its character, without exaggeration, just as it should be in a modern chronograph of this caliber.
At The Watchmaker, every polish is treated as a high-precision operation rather than a simple aesthetic task. Our goal is not to "erase" time, but to respect the design and identity of the watch, delivering it in the best possible condition.
